Dr Karen Sleeman
Christ-centred, whole-person approach, providing compassionate therapy for your individual, couple and family needs
Welcome to Living Hope Practice
Living Hope Practice offers compassionate therapy for individuals, couples
or families in North London, with some online options for those living further afield. It is here to support you on your journey towards understanding yourself, your relationships and your experiences more deeply through a Christ-centred lens.
Navigating the complexities of life can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when we are facing difficult family dynamics, pressures to meet society’s expectations or a growing sense of disconnection from others and from God. As an experienced psychotherapist, I help individuals, couples and families untangle these threads and understand how their experiences influence their understanding of their faith, values, worldview, relationships and patterns of behaviour.
For couples seeking support, I provide a safe and compassionate space in which to explore the dynamics of your relationship and the underlying narratives that may be creating distance between you. Whether you are facing a recent crisis or feel caught in repetitive patterns of conflict, my experience of working with inter-personal issues can help you find a new path towards understanding, intimacy and connection.
My work is underpinned by my training in biblical counselling. I have been specifically trained to connect the truths of the Bible with the realities of everyday life, helping people consider themselves, their relationships and the difficulties they face from a Christ-centred perspective.

What about fees and do you offer reduced rates?
Everything I do is rooted in my Christian faith, but I make sure to create a professional space where everyone feels respected, no matter what they believe. You won't find any religious pressure here. Everyone is welcome to join me for therapy, regardless of their background or identity.
Biblical counselling is a Christ-centred, relational ministry that brings the wisdom and hope of Scripture into the particular struggles of life. Through compassionate conversation, it seeks to understand people’s experiences of suffering and sin, helping them respond to God and grow in faith and Christlikeness through the work of the Holy Spirit, ordinarily within the care of their local church.
My fees are between £75 and £120 based on the service provided. These rates reflect my professional training and experience, while remaining as accessible as possible. Payment is required before each session. Please note that the full fee applies if you are unable to attend or cancel with less than 24 hours' notice. If finances are a significant barrier, reduced rates may be available. Many clients find support through their local church or loved ones; additionally, those in ministry may access funds from specific organisations. Please contact me for more details.
Psychotherapeutic intervention involves exploring specific concerns within a safe, clinician-led framework. This provides space to examine patterns in our thoughts, emotions and behaviours, alongside the influence of formative experiences and our current life circumstances.
My systemic training brings a particular focus to relationships and the wider contexts in which our lives unfold. Rather than viewing difficulties solely within the individual, we can explore how relationships, family experiences and patterns of communication shape how we understand ourselves and respond to others. This can help us recognise recurring relational patterns, understand what may be happening beneath them, and discover different ways of relating.
By developing these insights and considering how they connect with our core values, therapy can create opportunities for meaningful personal growth, healthier relationships and lasting change, even amid the complexities of life.
